BARCELONA – NEW YORK

Nowadays, around the world, there are loads of principal and beautiful cities. Although all of them have things in common, there are always some differences which characterize them. Let’s compare two famous places: Barcelona and New York.

On one hand, if you start talking about their situations, of course, they are not in the same country, neither in the same continent: Barcelona is in Spain, Europe, and New York is on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean, it’s in the United States. This difference is followed by many other ones: the history, the culture, the traditions, the language… These things don’t mean that one is worse than the other or the opposite. However, it’s true that the American city is bigger and more known than Catalonia’s capital. Because of this, the American has more population and it has more quantity of services but I don’t know if they are better than the Catalan ones.

On the other hand, as I have just said, they’ve got similar aspects due to they are both important places. As Barcelona as New York have in the centre an old zone with the most ancients buildings like cathedrals and squares. Surrounding this area, the newest flats and offices have been built. Broad avenues, huge department stores, luxurious hotels, rich restaurants and at the same time fast foods, cinemas, theatres, nice and colourful parks… are the light of these cities life.

Like everything, each city has its advantages and its inconveniences. However, I prefer Barcelona because is the capital of our community and it has a significant more emotional and more personal.
